This book was nothing but cute. And I mean that quite literally. There was no substance to the plot other than spoof and cuteness. That’s okay, just don’t get too excited. The illustrations were adorable, and I would’ve loved to see them in full color (I have the ARC version).
Mission Moon is basically just as it sounds: A graphic novel about American cat astronauts travelling to the moon. The environmental theme about saving the planet by placing solar panels on the moon was extra cute. Wish somebody would do something about environmental justice in real life.
The second volume, Race to Mars, was more true to American history and a spoof thereof. They were quite literally racing the Russians (as well as two other teams) to Mars. Entertaining, but not much of substance.
I didn’t expect much going into it, so I wasn’t disappointed. I recommend the same if you decide to read this graphic novel.
