This is one of the most long winded books I’ve read in quite a while. Wolitzer’s characters are so in depth, the stories she winds together take a while to tell. I certainly enjoyed uncovering the stories these characters had to share. Although, they were far from interesting, and much more mundane than I might have expected. Life is full of unexpected moments, awkward circumstances, and well meaning but not always sufficient relationships. This is what Wolitzer strives to share in this novel.
Wolitzer uncovers the messiness of life through her character’s actions and interactions with each other. I didn’t find this book to be particularly compelling, neither was the writing style dull, just normal.
