This book was wicked fun, but didn’t have much plot to it. If you’ve seen the movie, you may still want to pick up the graphic novel, as the overall story line is very different. I found O’Malley’s writing to be quite comical. Scott is 23, and trying to live his best life. He’s in a band with his friends, unemployed, and dating a 17 year old girl. It’s an odd premise, and there’s not much going on, until a young woman named Ramona walks into his life, an (early) Amazon delivery person living in Canada.
The entirety of this book felt like it was building towards a plot, and simply slowly introducing characters and providing comical scenarios for readers to get to know how each character will respond to different situations. Enjoyable and acutely self-aware, I was excited to continue reading this series.
