December was packed with good books, so it was a tough choice. I picked Upright Women Wanted becAuse the imagination present in this book fueled me differently than all the others.
In a world where information has to be approved to be disseminated, and any deviation from the norm will be punished, of course the librarians are taking a stand for justice. But not in the way you would traditionally think. They are riding their horses into battle, smuggling prohibited goods, and seeking justice in the far corners of the country.
Sarah Gailey’s works so far have been wonderfully imaginative, with characters and ideas that have stuck with me. The LGBT themes in fantastical settings are a big plus also.
